Drama unfolded in the Senate today following a heated exchange between Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe and a northern colleague who allegedly made a provocative remark suggesting that “Nnamdi Kanu will die in prison and nothing will happen.”
According to eyewitness accounts, Abaribe immediately reacted with outrage, standing up sharply and warning the senator never to make such statements again. The chamber descended into shouting as other lawmakers rushed to separate the two before the confrontation escalated.
Abaribe was quoted as saying:
“You do not speak carelessly about a man whose case is before the court. Nigeria is already too fragile for such reckless statements.”
Another senator, trying to calm the room, added:
“This is the National Assembly, not a battlefield. We must show restraint, even when we disagree.”
