Kossyvibes News: DSS Charges Robert Bassey to Court in Cross River

The Department of State Services (DSS), Cross River State Command, has dragged Robert Bassey who reported to the Police that a DSS official, Eyo Bassey Eyo and three others, Eyo Edet, Sylvia James and Jason Udo, kidnapped his two brothers, Brown Irek Ofadim and Isaac Sampson.

The suspect was charged to Magistrate Court 1 at Moore Road, in Calabar Municipal of Cross River State on Monday. Newsmen, who were in court to cover the proceedings, were barred by Court officials, saying they were not authorised to cover the event.
The media had exclusively published a statement issued by the State Director of the Service, Adebayo Ilupeju, that the Command wishes to state that the arrest and parade of the DSS official was misrepresentation of what happened.
“The fact is that Eyo had accompanied three (3) of his friends namely Eyo Edet, Sylvia James and Jason Udo to assist them recover a debt from Robert Bassey. On arrival, the Police apprehended the alleged kidnappers and Eyo who was in the company of the trio.”
Explaining more, the circumstances that led to the involvement of his official, the Director said that investigation has revealed that the complainant, Robert Bassey, had fleeced the trio of Edet, James and Udo of a certain sum of money with a promise to help them secure admission at the University of Calabar.
