Super Eagles Get N9M For Each Goal - Gov Okowa

Motivating the national team with available resources to get the needed result in a crucial game by a State Governor cannot be termed irresponsible on the surface.
But when the Governor is ready to as much as N9 million per goal scored but seems unwilling to resolve outstanding salaries of the state's football clubs players, then there is a problem.

That is the situation with the Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa who played to the gallery on Tuesday; promising the Super Eagles 25,000 USD for every goal scored by the Eagles against Bafana Bafana on Saturday.
The soft –spoken Okowa said: “I am pleased to have the Super Eagles here in Asaba. We hope you make Asaba your home, and as a people we will begin to follow your progress even more closely. We appreciate the giant strides Nigerian Football is making and commend the leadership of the NFF for making Delta State part of its success story. For every goal scored by the Super Eagles in Johannesburg on Saturday, we pledge a reward of $25,000. Please don’t put a limit to the number of goals you score on Saturday; try and score as many as possible.”
Responding to Okowa’s promise, an angered stakeholder said: Who asked him (Okowa) to do eye service? Super Eagles already have structures and sponsors bankrolling their expenses and bonuses.
"What will he profit a man to gain the world and loses his own life? I saw the above calamity and the nonpayment of salaries of his state teams and I was ashamed of the Governor who thinks he's doing us good.
"You want to splash over #9million Naira on the players that are already over fed and doing fine in their respective career whereas some youths that can be something better than you the Governor are languishing in pain for lack of wages and you think you are doing something unique?#SHAMEONYOUOKOWA”
The Delta State owned football teams struggling for survival include, Warri Wolves, Delta Stars and Delta Force all in the Nigeria National League as well as the duo of Ika Rangers and Isoko United in the Nationwide League and Delta Queens in the Nigeria Women Premier League
