THE Kano Police command on Thursday arraigned a
20-year-old man, Shaibu Mohammed before a chief
magistrate court, in Kano, on allegation of having
canal knowledge of a six-year-old girl.
The father of the girl (names withheld) reported the
incidence to the police, stating that on December 30,
2015, around 4:00 p.m., the accused, a resident of
Sabon Garib in Doguwa Local Government Area of
Kano State lured his six-year-old daughter to enter
an uncompleted primary school building, located at
Unguwar Gangarein Doguwa Local Government
Area, where he allegedly defiled her.
Inspector Shaibu Musa informed the court that, the
alleged rape victim was rushed to Doguwa General
Hospital where she was administered with
medications.
The accused said he understood the content of the
charge sheet read out to him in an open court by
court registrar but denied the allegation, stating that
it was not true.
The Chief Magistrate, Mariam Sabo ordered that the
suspected rapist be remanded in prison custody and
adjourned the case to February 10 for mention.
